While I was home in Denver last month, I had the chance to head up to Fort Collins (1.5 hour drive from Denver) with my best friend Liz so that she could show me all of the snazzy places. Gosh this town is cute, not to mention the drive from Denver that is absolutely stunning along the Rockies. There are so many cute colorful victorian houses that have been spiffed up.
Our journey started off with the brewery tour at New Belguim, where oddly enough I ran into an old friend from elementary school. Small world, eh? New Belgium’s tour was fantastic and they all had snazzy bikes. I’m a big fan of their Sunshine Wheat Beer and now I proudly sport the vintage style poster for it in my itty-bitty kitchen! After hanging out for a little while, Liz and Dan took me to one of their favorite spots, with oodles of local Colorado beers on tap and delicious pizza: The Mayor of Old Town. Obviously after dinner it was the perfect time for a cupcake, so we popped in Buttercream.
Our slumber party was pretty wonderful, and breakfast at Little Bird Bakeshop was sublime. By the way, that beautiful dog pictured above is Al, Liz’s nephew/son.
Liz, I miss you dearly.
