This week was the first Yelp Paris Elite soirée of the year. Boy to I love these fellow Yelpers. To kick the year off right, we came together at Lockwood, one of Paris’s newest hotspots, and quite honestly, the spaciest that I’ve ever seen. With familiar faces, finger food and carefully crafted cocktails, we celebrated Yelpness and the start of a new year, one that I am pretty sure will be good…
As for Lockwood, stop by for a coffee in the early morning or afternoon, a brunch to cure your hangover, an aperitivo after work or a late night cocktail. Part of what’s so fantastic about it is that they’ve got every time of the day covered for you to enjoy.

Yelp Paris’s most recent Elite Event was at one of my all time favorite bars in Paris, Dirty Dick. This bar reminds me of my favorite bar in Denver, Adrift. I’m so glad to have a tiki getaway here in Paris. Silly, am I?
Dirty Dick is a tiki bar in the Pigalle neighborhood, run by a cocktail wizard from Los Angeles. The bar is open every evening and has a wide variety of cocktails to match whatever you’re dreaming of on your Hawaiian holiday to yummy beers. The bar carries some bottled Rogue ale beer, which has a mean IPA or two.
When you walk in, you’ll feel like you’re in that Hawaii episode of Mad Men…. or those episodes where the Brady’s were in Hawaii on holiday….I mean, I felt that way at least! It’s fantastic! The decoration is impeccable and classy, rather dark with red and blue lights that light up the palm tree carpet and totem poles. The bar is lined with bamboo-like barstools, and little cocktail umbrellas are every which way. Volcano punch bowls for collective cocktails? Yes, these exist, and they are at Dirty Dicks.
On this late Sunday afternoon, yelpers gathered from around the city of lights to enjoy cocktails, beachy tunes and delicious grub from Paris Superfood. We were in a tiki dream filled with summer grooves and Hawaiian shirts. It was magic.
Mai Tai’s, Piña Coladas and chia crackers +pudding…. it was an evening of down to earth, relaxing indulgence.
Thanks again, Yelp Paris, for such a smashing evening! And also many thanks to Dirty Dick for hosting, and Paris Superfood for the deliciously super duper supergrub.

One of the May Yelp Elite events was held a the snazzy restaurant near République, Le Cabinet de Sa Majesté. This resto is owned by he folks who run Les Fils à Maman and Le Petit Resto Dans La Prairie (ring a bell?)
This evening was finishing off a beautifully sunny day, which was long-fully waited for by the Parisians. The staff opened up the windows and the fresh spring air oozed it. It was perfection.
What I loved about this restaurant as soon as I walked in was it’s personality. They had vintage shelves left and right with brass and metal touches on the walls. Frames holding insects or mirrors, maps and randomness, with exposed stones on one side… not to mention beautiful lights up around the bar. I was in awe of their mix-matching chairs.
Elodie & Lali had some darn clever Eliter gifts this time; the socks & temporary tattoos are personal favorites of mine. Even the Yelp accessories up for grabs were in adorable buckets and tins on the tables throughout the restaurant. C’était vraiment trop chou.
As you can see, the menu that night had quite the list of treats. I had tasted nothing like their cheesecake every before, and they boast about the sablé Petits Lu Nutella et Banane as it is a house specialty. Whenever the food came out on their big wooden plaques, everyone’s cameras and iPhones formed a paparazzi around them. Priceless.
Special thanks to the staff of Le Cabinet de Sa Majesté for organizing such a fantastic event, and also to Elodie & Lali for their Yelp awesomeness.

Are you a Yelper? I must say that it is such a lovely community to be a part of. Food lovers in Paris? It really can’t get much better than this.

Last week was March’s Yelp Paris Elite event at Café Pinson.. the theme was Detox. It was my first time at Café Pinson, and boy did this evening make me want to go back all the time.
I brought Olivia as my +1 to this event, and we mingled and indulged in delicious organic wines, epicly yumz juices (apple, carrot & lemon, beetroot and something nice, or a green delicoius kale) and other treats. On the menu was butternut squash velouté topped with kale, tofu & spinach madeleines (one of Pinson’s original recipes) and sweet potato falafels. Home run. After gobbling down all of these terribly good snacks, we had the delight of trying something rejuvenating that I had never even heard of before: birch sap. It was slightly chilled and we sipped it in precious Duralex cups.
One of the main things that had me head over heels for Café Pinson was their interior decoration. I just love the simplicity and color tones. From the shelves & knick knacks to the couches to the stools, it was cozy as can. It really is a wholesome place.
And of course, finally, it’s another resto where vegetarians and gluten-free eaters can go at eat freely. (We can all admit that Paris is not the best city for that, so places like this are making it more so!).
In detox we trust. Go ahead, give it a whirl!
Café Pinson is also getting creative with kale. They refer to it now as Chou Kale as you have probably seen on The Kale Project. It was a tough egg to crack with the French… WHAT DO WE CALL THIS?!
I for one am just glad to see this hearty green more present in this magical city.
Special thanks to Elodie for getting all of us Yelpeurs together! It was a hoot.
Don’t forget to check out Café Pinson’s Facebook Page for info on their daily specials and menus!
Until next time. I can’t wait to try out Pinson’s brunch!

Thursday night was February’s Yelp Elite event at Café Madam with Electric Strawberry Boat. It was a night filled with delicious grub, good music and delicious cocktails. I was a huge fan of the Hendrick’s punch. What’s better than gathering food lovers in a new & fresh Paris café to mingle?
The grub at Café Madam was to die for, and I’m anxious to go back there for breakfast or brunch sometime.
