These photos are a bit old, but I had forgotten how much I like them. I feel like they capture the evening so perfectly. There was a Yelp Elite event at Loustic last summer, a cozy coffeeshop that I adore, and the evening tones made the place even more precious with an inverted atmosphere. There was wine, cheesecake, coffee, homemade marshmallows and more at this magical evening. The Yelp Elite crowd is a fantastic one, we all come together around one common point despite our different career paths and stories : grub in Paris. It’s a sense of a community. Loustic was the perfect spot for this place because it is that special café where you go and feel like a local. You get the “hey how ya doin’?” when you walk in, and a sense of comfort and coziness. It’s not everyday you come by this type of place.
Lately the time has flown, and I have had little time to sit and relax and organize my photos to share with you guys here on the blog. Going through these photos made me realize how fast the months have gone by (and year!) and how the photos are still just as much worth sharing. The Spring season is coming and going here in Paris, not quite sticking yet to prepare for summer. I’m anxious for summer evenings on terraces and café doors open to let in the fresh breeze. That with a cuppa, sure does sound like my kind of paradise.
More on Loustic, which is also a part of my Paris Guide.
This week was the first Yelp Paris Elite soirée of the year. Boy to I love these fellow Yelpers. To kick the year off right, we came together at Lockwood, one of Paris’s newest hotspots, and quite honestly, the spaciest that I’ve ever seen. With familiar faces, finger food and carefully crafted cocktails, we celebrated Yelpness and the start of a new year, one that I am pretty sure will be good…
As for Lockwood, stop by for a coffee in the early morning or afternoon, a brunch to cure your hangover, an aperitivo after work or a late night cocktail. Part of what’s so fantastic about it is that they’ve got every time of the day covered for you to enjoy.

The most recent Yelp Paris Elite event took place at a soon-to-open concept store in Paris’s 12th district, Mel, Mich & Martin.
The evening had goodness from Odette, Helmut Newcake, Demory Paris, Toucan Bleu and more…. It was a night full of sweets and pretty things. Thank you, Yelp, for such a lovely evening out!

Yelp Paris’s most recent Elite Event was at one of my all time favorite bars in Paris, Dirty Dick. This bar reminds me of my favorite bar in Denver, Adrift. I’m so glad to have a tiki getaway here in Paris. Silly, am I?
Dirty Dick is a tiki bar in the Pigalle neighborhood, run by a cocktail wizard from Los Angeles. The bar is open every evening and has a wide variety of cocktails to match whatever you’re dreaming of on your Hawaiian holiday to yummy beers. The bar carries some bottled Rogue ale beer, which has a mean IPA or two.
When you walk in, you’ll feel like you’re in that Hawaii episode of Mad Men…. or those episodes where the Brady’s were in Hawaii on holiday….I mean, I felt that way at least! It’s fantastic! The decoration is impeccable and classy, rather dark with red and blue lights that light up the palm tree carpet and totem poles. The bar is lined with bamboo-like barstools, and little cocktail umbrellas are every which way. Volcano punch bowls for collective cocktails? Yes, these exist, and they are at Dirty Dicks.
On this late Sunday afternoon, yelpers gathered from around the city of lights to enjoy cocktails, beachy tunes and delicious grub from Paris Superfood. We were in a tiki dream filled with summer grooves and Hawaiian shirts. It was magic.
Mai Tai’s, Piña Coladas and chia crackers +pudding…. it was an evening of down to earth, relaxing indulgence.
Thanks again, Yelp Paris, for such a smashing evening! And also many thanks to Dirty Dick for hosting, and Paris Superfood for the deliciously super duper supergrub.
